Preparations take energy and resources. You will need to spend a considerable amount of time at it, so it’s good to start out at least a week early. Get rid of personal effects, electronics, transmitters and flagstaff. After that, drain the boat of fuel and water from air conditioners as well as pumps. Unplug all cables and disconnect batteries to make sure that there are no live areas of contact anywhere in or around the vessel. You can also unhook any part of the boat that is undone or could become undone during the journey. Secure all doors and latch down all windows. Read our article on whether to shrink wrap your pontoon boat next.
